New Zealand Certificates in English Language (NZCEL) Academic Level 4
 

Course Description

This qualification is intended for learners of English as an additional language, attending NZQA approved programmes delivered in Aotearoa New Zealand. This qualification is at a level comparable to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B2. This qualification allows Aotearoa New Zealand community, employers and educational institutions to recognise the level at which the graduate can use English for general, workplace or academic purposes.
IESOL is aimed at:

  • Young people or adults attending an English course
  • Students learning English as part of their school or college curriculum
  • People needing English for their everyday or working life
  • Learners who require externally recognised certification of their levels in English
  • Students who require a series of graded examinations to move up the ladder of proficiency

IELTS PREPARATION OPTION


IELTS preparation classes are offered as a part time option for studying the NZCEL Level 4 programmes.
IELTS preparation classes are designed to improve students’ test taking strategies, to familiarise students with the IELTS test format, and to improve their English level prior to taking the test. Out of class study is strongly encouraged, to include practice in tasks one and two of the writing module as well as reading and listening tests which students are able to borrow to use at home.
Near their exam date, each student is given a practice speaking test.
